Calm preventive health clinic with a patient entering a non-invasive body scanning room

Neko Health’s $700 Million US Bet Needs Clinical Proof

Neko Health has raised $700 million to bring its technology-heavy preventive health service to the United States, beginning with a New York clinic. The funding takes its disclosed capital since 2023 above $1 billion and reportedly values the company at about $7 billion.

Its pitch is compellingly simple: combine many familiar health checks, proprietary imaging and a clinician consultation into one 60-minute visit. The harder question is whether convenience and abundant measurement produce better outcomes.

A clinic visit combines sensors, tests and medical review

Neko describes its scan as non-invasive, radiation-free and designed to detect possible indicators of skin cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and metabolic risk. Customers receive blood analysis, an electrocardiogram, arterial and body-composition measurements, and more than 2,000 high-resolution skin images.

Blood samples are processed on site, allowing results to be reviewed during the same appointment. Findings that require attention can be assessed by specialist clinicians, with follow-up appointments, referral letters and introductions to outside providers included when recommended.

Many individual measurements are already available through conventional care. Neko’s distinctive product is their integration: custom sensors, automated collection, immediate processing, longitudinal imaging and a consultation delivered as a single consumer experience.

The company operates eight clinics across the UK and Sweden, charges £299 in Britain and 2,750 Swedish kronor in Sweden, and says it has completed 100,000 scans since launching in 2023. More than 350,000 people have registered or joined waitlists, while 75% reportedly prepay for another scan.

Repeat visits can show changes over time, but the company has not established that an annual interval is appropriate for every age and risk group. Nor has it disclosed the US price, additional city locations or a detailed expansion timetable.

US growth brings regulatory and access questions

Two internally developed devices received FDA 510(k) clearance in May 2026. Derma-2 was cleared as an adjunctive telethermographic system, and Spectrum-2 as a tissue-saturation oximeter for cardiovascular measurements.

Those clearances apply to particular devices and intended uses. They do not amount to approval of the entire Neko Health Scan as one diagnostic service, and they do not validate every algorithm that combines or interprets collected data.

Neko presents its US clinics as preventive health and wellness providers rather than full-service practices. Customers are advised to continue seeing their usual clinicians for diagnosis and treatment. The clinics do not currently participate in insurance plans, and most services are expected to be paid directly by customers.

That model may deliver a polished experience to people who can afford it while leaving downstream costs elsewhere. A flagged abnormality can require imaging, biopsy or specialist treatment outside Neko. Without a published US price or payer partnerships, access may remain concentrated among affluent consumers.

Scaling also requires more than software. Each site needs proprietary equipment, blood-processing capacity, clinical staff and specialist review. Capital can open clinics, but consistent quality will depend on training, referral networks and the ability to handle unexpected findings without turning a preventive visit into an anxious handoff.

More measurement is not yet proof of better health

Neko has not published a completed peer-reviewed study validating the full service against established preventive-care pathways. A registered clinical trial is examining its multimodal skin-imaging technology, but that ongoing work does not demonstrate the performance of the whole scan.

Important figures remain unavailable: false-positive rates, unnecessary follow-up procedures, clinically insignificant findings and the contribution of each AI system. Public material identifies AI-assisted dictation for summarising records and drafting reports, with clinician review, but does not fully separate AI classification from conventional software and direct medical assessment.

The company has reported improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar among 1,469 customers returning roughly a year later. It also acknowledges that this was not a controlled scientific study. Participants may have changed behaviour or begun treatment, and people buying a second scan may not represent the broader population.

Neko has built an attractive delivery model around prevention and longitudinal data. Its expansion will test whether that model can move beyond consumer enthusiasm. The decisive evidence will be comparative outcomes, transparent false-positive reporting and proof that early findings improve care enough to justify their financial and clinical consequences.
